Relevant Experience

We have lived both in towns/cities and rurally and have a diverse and wide ranging amount of experience in what we have done in relation to properties and animals as well as the work we have undertaken.

We have, in alphabetical order:

  • administered medication as well as drenches and wormers to cats, dogs, horses and sheep;
  • assisted calving cattle;
  • assisted equine dentists, farriers and vets;
  • break feed horses and cattle including running electric fencing;
  • built fences, post and batten and timber rail as well as hanging gates;
  • cared for horses, sheep, cattle, dogs, cats, chickens, fish and even a couple of axolotls;
  • carried out, and managed, landscaping including drainage, placing of weed mat, planting,  and placing of mulch and wood chip;
  • feed out hay to cattle, horses and sheep;
  • helped numerous foals and lambs into the world;
  • helped shear sheep and alpacas;
  • installed water pumps, tanks and troughs and connected them to reticulation systems;
  • lived in properties that are off-grid (power and water);
  • lived in properties with septic tanks and tank water;
  • milked cows in walk through, herring bone and rotary cowsheds;
  • mown paddocks (and lawns);
  • operated equipment and power tools including chainsaws, weed eaters and a wide variety associated with woodworking and construction;
  • operated machinery including tractors with front end loaders, blades, mowers and fertilizer spreaders, wheeled compactors, fork lifts and tracked excavators;
  • served mares;
  • spread fertilizer;
  • swept and stacked hay;
  • undertaken and managed a wide variety of construction projects;
  • worked in hospitality including waitressing, bar tending and managing bars and clubs;

and much much more.

We are versatile, after all we are Kiwis and as a nation are renown for our Number 8 Wire Mentality!
